BRAČ THE GOURMET WAY

Western part of Brač is full of interesting things and attractions as well as some of the most visited family taverns with a selection of Brač specialties prepared by traditional recipes.

DAY 1

Arrival to Postira in the afternoon on your own arrangement. Accommodation in a private apartment of your choice or at one of our hotels. After check-in, we suggest you to spend your free time for walk and explore the place or take a swim on one of many beaches along the coast.

DAY 2

After breakfast it's time to explore Brač. Accompanied by a tour guide, we go to Sutivanone of the smallest municipalities in Croatia. Bells, stone houses and palaces preserved the original look and make the sight of this place irresistible. Particularly interesting are the old streets called Kogule, which were made of pebble sea stone. Thanks to good trails and events throughout the year, today Sutivan is increasingly recognized as an excellent bike destination.

After the tour of the old core and the walk through the Kogula street , we will have an indispensable break by the sea with a gentle breeze.

Built on the stone and from the stone, Ložišća are situated on a steep slope. The beautiful bell tower of the church of St. John and Pavel dominates and especially stands out surrounded by small stone houses. At the top of the Great Valley, at the place where the river once flowed, there is a bridge from the time of Austrian administration and the locals like to call it the bridge of Franz Joseph.

In the natural environment of its own vineyards and olive groves there is Turanj tavern. This tastefully decorated family type Dalmatian tavern with its many antique exhibits has two illuminated bowling grounds, an outdoor terrace in the olive grove and a stone polished cottage over 150 years old. A variety of Brač specialties are prepared with traditional recipes and the most recommended are „meat peka“ and homemade wine.

In the heart of the island lies one of the most amazing places in the world. Apart from Blaca desert, unique in this area, Nerežišća is home to some other natural phenomenons. In the center there is a church of St. Peter and Paul and because of his tree growing on the roof called Brač Bonsai is one of the most interesting attractions on the island of Brač. Not far from Nerežišća you will be surprised by the huge rocks of a very unusual look that reminds you of a cake, so it is no surprise that the locals called it Koloč. Urban legend says it fulfills the wishes!

Return to Postira is scheduled in the afternoon and you can spend the evening at one of the local restaurants.

DAY 3

Biking by the sea, the road leads us to the Postira Agricultural Cooperative, the most famous and oldest industry of this kind in Dalmatia. We will visit the olive oil production plant and with expert guidance get acquainted with the original, traditional products of domestic producers and the complete offer of homemade virgin olive oil of the Agricultural Cooperative.

At the entrance to Postira there is a family farm. Thanks to the dedicated work and favorable climate, the Šantić family produces top quality olive oil, which received numerous awards, and there you can find many delicious homemade products.

After a tour we will relax in  pleasant surroundings with tasty marmalade, homemade cheese, olives, liqueurs and top quality wine.

With a gentle touch of olive oil and a wealth of Mediterranean plants, the essence of the Adriatic has been transformed into Brač Fine Soap. In a family run production plant, soaps are hand-made and cut, so every bar is unique. Essential oils give each soap specific healing properties and fragrance. During the tour you will have the opportunity to see a part of the long process of soap making. Each soap carries a part of Croatia so it is often taken as a unique souvenir.

After a light bike ride, we arrive in eco-ethno village Dol located in the deep valley in the island's interior. At the entrance to the village there are caves made of grainy stone hrapočuša and the autochthonous cake was named after it. This quient and pieceful place is full of preserved traditional stone houses and ideal for anyone who likes to explore. Food lovers can satisfy their palate in one of the local taverns.

Return to Postira is scheduled after lunch and you can spend the afternoon on a bike ride or on one of our quad or kayak tours.
