Sutivan - bike friendly destination

Sutivan is one of the smallest municipalities in Croatia located in far west of the island. Bell towers, stone houses and palaces have preserved the original appearance and make the view of this place irresistible.

The place was developing in parallel with the construction of Diocletian's Palace as an Emperor's dignitary built a palace in Sutivan. Later, many nobles recognized this place as an ideal location for a real vacation and built numerous castles and mansions, and over the centuries Sutivan became a small treasure trove of castles.

To the local Church of the Assumption, leads a street called kogul made of sea pebbles arranged in different shapes. The church dates back to the 16th century and its final appearance got only 3 centuries later. The story of the bell tower and its cat has been passed down for generations and, above all, is unusual, so the cat was given its own monument.
In the old part of Sutivan cemetery near the church of St. Roka, there are unique catacombs with two corridors where people who did not have their own tombs were once buried.

In front of Likva Bay, at the depth of 30 meters, there are traces of ancient shipwreck. One bone cube was found among the debris and 24 items remained buried in the sand.

Today Sutivan is tied to agriculture, fisheries and maritime. Diligent population and fertile fields resulted in olive groves and native vineyards, landscaped field roads, and by the development of tourism roads become walking and biking paths.

Sutivan has hosted several sports events in recent years and is increasingly recognized as a great cycling destination.

Near Sutivan, in the heart of the pine forest, is an area of about 12000 m2 and is called Nature park, and divided into several zones; walk-in area, playgrounds, animal shelter, restaurant, children's playground. Various animals can be seen there, and besides a lot of fun on the playground and trampoline, children can ride ponies, ride a small cable car and try playing alka.
